"The Disingenuous Ethics" by Dan Roenstch
- This is a response to "The Singer Solution to World Poverty" written in The Radical Capitalist which seems to me to be an online magazine aimed at promoting Ayn Rand's philosophy. All of the articles seem to be written by Dan Roenstch. Nevertheless this is a well put together set of ideas condemning Singer's Solution. I do not particularly agree with any of the premises but I can see why some people would. He basically asserts that one should help the poor to construct a society like ours so that they can also be rich, rather than giving them money straight out.

"The Singer Solution to World Poverty"
- article in The New York Times September 5, 1999. This is an article that I stumbled upon recently about world poverty and its solution. It is actually an essay by a very controversial utilitarian ethicist named Peter Singer. He is the chair of the bioethics at Princeton University. The article is very controversial in itself. My heart definitely agrees with it more than it does with Singer's other theories, but my life is very reluctant. Read it and tell me what you think.

"The Blog Phenomenon" by John C. Dvorak
- article in PC Magazine february 26, 2002 arguing that blogs are more interesting than the traditional vanity page. Blogs are getting the attention of many people and certain ones if you wade through the yuckies.. are interesting. I have learned from reading blogs, that many people are depressed. Many people think alike, and many people think totally differently. All in all, blogs are much more interesting to the average surfer who has no idea who you are, than a few pictures and sentences. Writing is fun, lets do it.

"Shadow Land" by Joe Klein
- intresting article in The New Yorker on the forces that control modern day Iran. Who actually runs the country? Klein paints the picutre of a kalaidescope of rulers and interests that control the foreign policy of Iran. Iran had three different official stances on the terrorist attacks on September 11th. They support terrorist Hezebolla activities and yet at the same time denounce terrorism. President Bush labelled Iran as one of the "axis of evil" along with North Korea and Iraq. What will happen next in Iran? Very detailed and interesting article. The New Yorker always paints pictures rather than just retelling facts. The photographs are awesome too.

too personal for you to read, still.
